Fluffy Bisquick Waffles

Bisquick Waffles

Remember those mornings when you want to be Super Mom with a special breakfast, but you’ve only had half a cup of coffee? These Bisquick waffles have your back! They’re my secret weapon for those “I want homemade but need it now” moments that happen between soccer practice and Monday morning meetings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter-flavored cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This is the perfect time to grab another sip of coffee!
  2. Combine the wet ingredients first. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, beaten egg, sugar, and vanilla until well blended.
  3. Add the Bisquick. Gently stir in the Bisquick mix until just incorporated. Don’t panic about small lumps – they’re actually your friends here! Overmixing is the enemy of fluffy waffles.
  4. Prep your waffle iron. Give both plates a light coat of butter-flavored cooking spray. This helps create that gorgeous golden color and prevents sticking.
  5. Time to waffle! Pour enough batter onto the preheated iron to cover about three-quarters of the surface (the batter will spread when you close the lid). Close and cook for about 5 minutes, until the steaming stops and the waffles are golden brown.
  6. Repeat the process with remaining batter, respraying the iron between batches if needed.
  7. Serve immediately topped with your favorites, or keep warm in a 200°F oven while you finish cooking the batch.

Notes

  • The secret to fluffiness: Let your batter rest for 5 minutes before cooking. This little timeout gives the leavening agents in Bisquick a chance to work their magic.
  • Crispy waffle hack: For extra crispy edges, cook your waffles about 30 seconds longer than you think you should. Trust me on this one!
  • Topping ideas beyond syrup: Fresh berries, sliced bananas, whipped cream, peanut butter, Nutella, chopped nuts, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert waffles.
  • Sunday meal prep win: Make a double batch and freeze the extras! Let them cool completely, then store with parchment paper between each waffle in a freezer bag. Pop them in the toaster on busy mornings – your future self will thank you.
  • Easy flavor twists: Add ½ teaspoon cinnamon, a handful of chocolate chips, or ¼ cup of blueberries to the batter for different flavor
